I hope the job was worth it (assuming you got it). I once did a round of interviews with a bank that included formal interviews with the person who would be my boss, his boss and two of people I would supervise, plus a couple of apptitude tests, psycometric testing and a couple of on the fly presentations(a total of four half days), at the end of which they decided I did not have the necessary experience (I was moving fields) - which should have been obvious from my CV !!!

Hi Guys...I have been invited to the first round selection for IT Consultant. Does anyone knows if that for that role they interview you on the same day? Also..which kind of activity group did you take part of?Was it about a problem to solve, a small presentation...?

Hello!
Firstly, thanks for writing all this, it has been a big help! I am just now at the assessment centre stage in my application and wondered if you can post any thoughts on yours? How long is it? What kind of activities are there? How many people are there?
Thanks again!

Thank you :)

Yes indeed, it is the Basic Of Programming (BOP) test. For me it was paper based but again, I unfortunately can't tell you more :( Maybe you can find some more information on Google? For me this test was extremely easy: as they said, it is an aptitude test depending on the role you applied for so it is just to check that you know how to code :)

I hope you will enjoy this day: everyone there put me at ease and was very kind with me when I went there!

Again good luck and I keep my finger crossed for you and I wish you lots of happiness with your lover!

Hi,
Many thanks for your kind reply. It is really helpful. Do wish you can find a good job in Glasgow with your lover! I wanna to move to Hursley for the same reason; certainly IBM is also a good IT company with good company culture - I think it will fit me.

May I trouble you again? The written test you mentioned in your blog is actually the basics of programming test? so it is paper-based not pc based? I am worrying that they ask me to program/compile the code in a UNIX environment or give me some complier I never use before - I program a lot using vc++ (MFC) not others.

Good luck with your job searching!

Hi llcc,

1. The confirmatory test is the same kind as the one you got on internet (same 3 parts), just a little bit harder and shorter (less questions of course) so practicing is a good idea. Just remind that those test are not made for you to finish them: they are just used to evaluate the kind of answer you give. Very few people are able to complete it in time so don't be worry about it.

2. Unfortunately, I'm not authorized to speak about the content of this test. The only thing that I can tell is that since you how to code, you won't have any problem to complete the test :)

This IBM day is not very difficult. It helps you to discover the company better and for IBM, it helps them to verify your reasonning skills.
I had to withdraw my application after this stage because of the location (I wanted to work in IBM Glasgow and there are no vacancies there) so I won't be able to give information for the assessment centre.

Good luck! :)

Hello,
Thanks for sharing this information. It is very useful. I am invited to the first round selection day and could you please help me with more information.

1. Is the confirmatory test same procedure as IPATO I took weeks ago including all three parts? or only particular part of the test? I think that I need prepare it again as I only finished 2/3 of the questions during the IPATO test and it was luck that I got passed. Maynot luck next time.Is it much harder than the online one?

2. what is the main content of programming test? I only know C/C++/ windows and never used Unix/Java. Can anybody give any clue how I can prepare it?
